I love computers in general, I love art in many forms including digital artwork. I'm technically inclined (er, nerdy, er, ahem). I like reading about many things and many hobbies, the computer itself being my favorite, 3D modeling, illustration, photography, electronics, CNC and rapid prototyping, graphic arts, paper model building, paper model design, radio control, scale model building, cooking, love Sci-Fi in general, like the artwork in Sci-fi a lot, etc., etc., etc.

Dear David,

Interested in your opinion.

Do you think fitting a 3D garment on a 3D human is possible in less then 3s using PhysX engine?

If so can a good composite 3D image of real and virtual be achieved in almost less than <3s?

Thanks,
Peter

I'm not sure I understand your question. What do you mean of fitting a garment on a character by using PhysX? The way you talk about it makes it sound as it PhysX has something to do with modeling in 3D which it does not unless it was used by some sort of 3D modeling program to calculate some physical deformations or other type of effects right there in the modeling window perhaps for use in some animation. Again it could be that I'm misinterpreting your question.

PhysX could have something to do with perhaps the calculations of the effects of gravity on the garment and how to deform it properly in a game but you are talking about compositing which again is confusing.

What are you exactly trying to do? Are you talking about some sort of augmented reality thing in which an artificial character and its clothes are composited on top of a real live background or something of the sort?

Just found your eBook on the web and had to download it. Been a paper model fanatic for a while now but have not used computers to assist me as yet since I am still in the learning stages with the required programs. Thanks for posting this tome of wisdom as I am sure it will be useful.
